 Join us August 30, 2008, for the 9th Annual Dachshund Derby.
Sixty-four of the fastest weiner athletes will streak (sort of) to the finish
line for a chance at a
jackpot purse estimated at $650 and bragging rights as the 2008 Dachshund
Derby Champion. There will be eight heats of eight dogs during the
thoroughbred racing program on Saturday. The eight fastest dogs will
vie for the Championship. We are proud to announce that in 2008 we are
joined again by The Blue Buffalo Foundation for Cancer Research as our signature
charity. The Foundation supports all areas of canine and feline cancer
research.
Half of each entry fee will be donated to BBFCR. Donations to the
Foundation will also be accepted the day of the races. All money received goes
to the Foundation.

The California State Fair welcomes Blue Buffalo Foundation for Cancer Research
as its signature charity for the 2008 Dachshund Derby.
The Blue Buffalo Foundation for Cancer Research was established in 2003 to
provide a source of funds for universities and clinics that have programs
dedicated to gaining a greater understanding of the causes, treatments and
prevention of canine and feline cancer.
The Foundation's initial activity will be to provide grants to a select group of
universities and clinics as determined by its Directors. At this time the
Foundation's goal is to increase both the number of grants and the amount of
each grant as the BLUE brand grows and sales increase.
While the Foundation will support all areas of cancer research, the focus will
be on the use of superior nutrition and natural supplementation in a
preventative context as this is where the company feels it can make the
greatest contribution to dogs and cats.
On race day, anyone donating a minimum of $1.00, but less than $2.00 will
receive a blue "I Picked a Wiener at the California State Fair" ribbon.
Anyone making a donation of $2.00 or more will receive a blue wristband from
Blue Buffalo Company. The wristband is inscribed with the words "Protect
Our Pets." All money collected will be donated by the California State
Fair to the Blue Buffalo Foundation for Cancer Research. If you wish to
donate to the Foundation at this time, please return a check made out to Blue
Buffalo Foundation along with your entry application. You will receive
your wristband or ribbon at the California State Fair on race day!
